NEW EMPLOYEE/PROJECT PERSONNEL SAFETY TRAINING

Safety Training is REQUIRED for employees by Federal and State Law, and strongly advised for Master’s students, 495/496 students, volunteer student workers who may work alone etc.  Training must be completed BEFORE you start working!    Until you have completed this training, the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics is out of compliance with the law and is subject to serious citations and, in the event of an accident, resulting lawsuits.

Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that everyone they supervise, including Master’s students, volunteer student workers who may work alone, work study students, student assistants, TAs, Gas, Foundation-paid employees/students, new faculty, post-docs, etc. have completed the CNSM Safety Training Program before beginning work as required by law.

The training consists of the following:

1.     Attend a “live” Safety Training session, given by CNSM Safety Office personnel.   This training is offered at the beginning of every semester and also periodically throughout the semester; check with your Department office or CNSM Safety (x55623) for scheduling.

1.     Your will receive a Safety Manual and a Safety Program Form (both available here by clicking the links) during the training session.

2.     Read the Safety Manual and SIGN & RETURN THE SAFETY PROGRAM FORM TO THE CNSM SAFETY OFFICE, PH3-018, 985-5623 within 7 days of attending the training session.

3.     You must return the form to legally register your training!!!  If you do not return the form within 7 days, you will be documented as not having received the training, and your employment status could be jeopardized.

Thank you, and please call the CNSM Safety Office (Kristin Hunter, Jeff Mellon, x55623 from on-campus or 562-985-5623) if you have any questions.
