INJURY RESPONSE PROCEDURES

FOR CNSM EMPLOYEES AND STUDENTS

 

EMPLOYEE INJURIES: Workplace injuries are usually treated at no cost to the employee when the correct procedures are followed.  Any CNSM employee (faculty, staff, TA, GA, SA, WS, RA etc.) injured “on the job” must notify her/his supervisor, who must then immediately contact Safety Office personnel Kristin Hunter/Jeff Mellon at x55623.  If Safety Office personnel are not available, contact Campus Safety at x52366 or x52283.  The Benefits Coordinator for Foundation employees (x57635) must also be contacted if the injured party is a Foundation employee.

Verify the above information with the CNSM Safety Office/Foundation Office before leaving campus as the approved facility may change.  Treatment obtained at facilities other than the above will normally NOT be reimbursed by CSULB. The appropriate employee’s supervisor must contact CNSM Safety to fill out the appropriate Incident forms.

 

EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES REGARDING STUDENT INJURIES:  Injured students should be informed that they are responsible for all medical costs incurred through treatment at any location other than the SHC.  This includes treatment sought for severe injuries (necessitating off-campus treatment) or injuries that occur when the SHC is closed; EVEN IF THE STUDENT WAS INJURED IN CLASS. Please inform your students that supplemental medical insurance is available through the SHC for a nominal fee. Please refer to Safety Memo 56 available posted on the CNSM Safety Office website for further information regarding student injury policies and procedures.
