GAS CYLINDER/CRYOGENIC
LIQUID TRAINING
The Dean’s office
provides compressed gasses and liquid nitrogen to CNSM faculty and staff “free
of charge”. Personnel who move gas
cylinders, hook-up regulators and/or draw liquid nitrogen from the College nitrogen
tank must, however, participate in a specific safety training/exam
session. Contact your Department Office
or CNSM Safety regarding training session scheduling.
Staff and faculty must be especially vigilant to ensure that
they do NOT allow an untrained person to move cylinders, install/remove
regulators or draw liquid nitrogen.
CNSM Safety gives the initial required training, but Faculty and Staff
remain responsible for providing specific “hands-on” instruction and effective
oversight in the safe use of compresses gases, liquid nitrogen and/or dry ice.
This will greatly reduce personal liability.
If you are not sure
if someone has completed a specific training session, call Safety x55623 to
verify training status.
