IF YOU PLAN TO WORK WITH OR OBTAIN
RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS,
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MAY NOT HANDLE OR
OBTAIN ANY RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS (excluding legally exempt materials) until you have
first completed the Campus Radiation Safety Program
Training and passed the Radiation Safety Test. Radiation Safety Program Training is usually
offered the first Friday of every month, from 12:00 to 1:30 IN MLSC-229. Contact the Campus Radiation Safety Officers
(RSO) to sign up for this training; click here or call (562)
985-5623.
EVEN AFTER YOU HAVE COMPLETED YOUR TRAINING, YOU MAY
NOT OBTAIN ANY RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS (OR EQUIPMENT THAT PRODUCES IONIZING
RADIATION) WITHOUT FIRST CONTACTING THE CAMPUS RSOs.
Unless you are the Primary Investigator, you will have
to take and pass the Radiation Safety Test yearly in order to retain permission
to work with radioactive materials.
