F. MAKE-UP POLICY:
Each student must take all lecture exams. One lecture exam may be made up if missed for a serious reason such as illness or accident. In order to be eligible for
making up a missed lecture examination, you must promptly submit (within one week) written documentation supporting the cause for your legitimate absence. It is
your responsibility to contact the instructor and provide the necessary documentation. The make-up exam must be taken before the next regularly scheduled
examination.
G. WITHDRAWAL POLICY:
A copy of the School of Natural Sciences withdrawal policy is available from the Department Office. Please read it carefully as we will adhere to it
strictly. Some critical deadlines to which you should pay particular attention to are listed below.:
02/7: Last day to withdraw without permission of instructor
03/17: Last day to withdraw with permission of instructor due to poor performance and grades
Always file a drop form if you do not intend to continue in any course. It is good insurance against getting a "U" in the course. Also, it is requested that you inform
your instructor if you drop the course early in the semester (first two weeks); this will give us the opportunity of giving your space to someone else.
Withdrawals from this course will only be allowed in accordance with University and College policies. Please be aware of the more specific and restrictive
withdrawal policy for the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Withdrawals during the first two weeks of instruction will not appear on the student's
permanent record.
Withdrawals after the first two weeks and prior to the ninth week of instruction are permissible only for serious and compelling reasons. Academic progress
unsatisfactory to the student is considered a serious and compelling reason during this period. Instructor and department chairman signatures on drop form are
required.
Withdrawals following the eighth week but prior to the final three weeks of instruction are permissible for serious and compelling reasons, but during this period,
unsatisfactory academic progress is not considered a serious and compelling basis to drop a course. Circumstances must be shown that preclude the student from
attending class or from any effective opportunities to study. In addition to the normal withdrawal form, a special form must be completed, and instructor and
department chair signatures are required.
Withdrawals during the last three weeks of instruction are permissible only for serious accident or illness and involve a total withdrawal from the University. Detailed
written documentation must accompany withdrawal forms. Instructor, chair, and college dean signatures are required.
H. CHEATING/PLAGIARISM:
Cheating and plagiarism are in violation of the California Administrative Code, Title 5, Section 41301. CSULB has adopted a specific policy with respect to the
violations of this nature (see the Bulletin or Schedule of Classes). Any student in violation of this code and policy in any
assignment or examination related to this course shall be subject to the options specified in the policy statement. This may result in the student receiving a failing grade in the course or, in certain circumstances, being expelled from the University.
