Professor Jeffrey Cohlberg appointed Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, 2008

Dr. Jeffrey Cohlberg received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, in Biochemistry. While at Berkeley, he received an NIH Predoctoral Fellowship. Following that, he was an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Since coming to California State University, Long Beach, he has continued to demonstrate excellence by receiving the CSULB Meritorious Performance and Professional Promise Award for three successive years. His excellence in teaching and mentoring of students was acknowledged in 1998 when he was named the Most Valuable Professor by the Outstanding Graduating Senior of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. In addition for awards in teaching and research, Dr. Cohlberg has served as the Graduate Advisor for the Biochemistry Program, and has also served the College as a representative on the College RTP Committee.

The College is pleased that Dr. Cohlberg has accept appointment as Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry starting in 2008. Join us in congratulating him and wishing him the best in the coming years.
