Boeing Scholarships for CNSM Undergraduates

Boeing Logo

The Boeing Company has partnered with the CNSM to award ten $1,900 undergraduate scholarships for the Spring 2009 Semester. Applications are due Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. in the Office of the Dean, FO5-104. Download an application [pdf].

Eligible candidates meet the following criteria:

  • CSULB freshman, sophomore, or junior;
  • A major in the departments of Chemistry & Biochemistry, Geological Sciences, Mathematics & Statistics, Physics & Astronomy, and/or Science Education;
  • A minimum GPA of 3.3; and
  • Financial need.

The Boeing Company seeks to provide qualified applicants who demonstrate financial need with scholarship support to assure the success of exceptional students in mathematics and the sciences that might otherwise be denied the opportunity to excel in a career in math or the sciences.

The Boeing Company understands that many students entering CSULB as mathematics or science majors are likely to be first-generation college students who are paying their own way through college. As a result, CSULB math/science majors are more likely to be working while attending school than the average university student. This need to work interferes with progress in a program of study, and often delays if not prevents completion and graduation as a science or math major.
