Alumni Spotlight: Georgia Griffiths, Distinguished Alumna 2008
Georgia Griffiths is the 2008 Distinguished Alumna of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics by the Alumni Association of California State University, Long Beach. She is the Founder and President of G2 Software Systems, the first woman-owned defense contractor business in San Diego. Following her Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics in 1973, Georgia worked at Hughes Aircraft from 1973 to 1977 as the third female engineer ever hired at the company. She also was a software programmer for various government support contractors. In 1974, she won a Hughes Fellowship that allowed her to complete her MS degree in computer science from the University of Southern California in 1976.
G2 Software Systems has been recognized with numerous awards in the last 15 years. They include: the Top Defense Contractor in 2004 by the San Diego Business Journal, and 100 Fastest Growing Privately Held Companies.
In her free time, Georgia enjoys various activities, which include: the international Dressage community, board member of the San Diego Humane Society, and member of a council of the San Diego Zoological Society. She also recently earned her wings as a private pilot.
Distinguished Alumnus Award
An annual award given by the CSULB Alumni Association, the distinguished alumni award recognizes an alumnus/a who has a record of distinction, recognition, and accomplishment in his/her field, and has made a significant impact regionally, statewide, and/or nationally.

- A record of distinction, recognition, and accomplishment in his/her field. Made a significant impact regionally, statewide, and/or nationally.
- A proven record of leadership and service to his/her community and society at large.
- Demonstrated interest and support of CSULB: has served as a volunteer, contributes as a donor, attends events, and/or stays connected with faculty or staff.
- Demonstrated pride and a positive affinity for CSULB.
