Peterson Hall 3 (PH3) Replacement Building
See the PH3 Construction FAQ
This new 160,000 square foot building will be home to the Departments of Geological Sciences, Physics and Astronomy, Science Education, and the remaining portions of Biological Sciences and Chemistry and Biochemistry not housed in the Molecular and Life Sciences Center or the Microbiology Building. In addition, the new building will accommodate the Jensen Student Access to Science center, and the administration/technical space of the College.
Presently we have funds to complete the working and construction drawings for the new building; the funds for the construction and demolition will become available with the passage of Proposition 1D, the Kindergarten-University Public Education Facilities Bond Act of 2006 on the November 7, 2006 Ballot. The new science building replaces an obsolete and antiquated facility constructed nearly a half century ago, and provides contemporary teaching environment designed to more easily and cost effectively adapt to future changes in technology, education programs, and student demand. The addition of this building completes construction of the science building complex. When finished in 3-5 years, we will have modern, up-to-date space for over 90% of our faculty and students.
