Freshman Experience Program OverviewThe College freshman year is the beginning of a fabulous new adventure for you, one that will offer you opportunities to explore the world in so many new ways. Learning should be an enjoyable challenge that opens doors, increases enthusiasm, elevates confidence, and supports you toward reaching your life's goals. We are very pleased that you have chosen to join the CSULB Science and Math family and look forward to supporting you in your four-year quest to become a scientist or mathematician! During your first year with us in the College, you will be participating in a new program designed especially for you. Our new Freshman Experience Program was created to offer you appropriate study and organization tools and strategies, career awareness events and opportunities, critical thinking and problem-based challenges, and quality faculty mentoring--all focused around your science and math interests and ultimate career goals. Approximately 100 of our freshman have been selected to participate in the Fall 2004 pilot semester of the College's new Freshman Experience Program (FEP). If you are one of those selected freshman, please click on Program Choices in the gray box above to view and make your FEP selections. All FEP freshman participants are required to select and complete one option from each of the Categories I, II, III and IV. If you are one of our freshman who were not selected to be part of the pilot program, please know you are also invited, welcomed, and encouraged to attend many of the events in the program. Please click on Cool Local Events and Activities in the left gray box for a list of events that we would like you to consider attending during your first year here with us at CSULB! These events are sure to be welcoming and engaging--please select a few to attend. Special Welcome Note: We want to extend a warm welcome to a special group of freshman from Computer Science and Computer Engineering who will be joining us during this pilot year as we embark on the Freshman Experience Program together. |
