Association of Future Science Educators
|
The Association of Future Science Educators is sponsored by the Science Education Department to support future K-12 science teachers. We have programs specifically designed to support your professional growth as future (and new) teachers. We host monthly AFSE events during the months of September, October, November, December, February, March, April and May throughout the academic year. AFSE is a student chapter of the National Science Teachers Association and the California Science Teachers Association. Participation in events is free. Students who attend two events per semester receive a certificate of active membership. Participants who attend 3 AFSE sponsored events/academic year are eligible for a $5 discount on their CSTA membership dues. Students attending 6 or more events/year get a $10 discount. Events are appropriate for both multiple subject and single subject credential candidates!
Whether you're interested in how better to reach students through science, how to plan a meaningful field trip, issues to raise during a job interview with a principal or are simply interested in more content based inquiry lessons to use in your classroom, these events are for you! The club meetings are held monthly, 6pm to 8pm. Check the website to find out where we will be meeting! Please RSVP on-line if you wish to attend. If you have specific questions, please call the Department of Science Education's Administrative Support Coordinator.
