Science Learning Center

The Science Learning Center (SLC) is a "hands-on" museum located on the CSULB campus in the basement of Peterson Hall 2. It houses many displays and exhibits from the departments of Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics and Astronomy, and Science Education.

The concepts of science are most easily understood by direct physical involvement and personal discovery. We have developed the exhibits in the SLC with this in mind. Visitors are encouraged to turn the handles, push the buttons, and twist the knobs to make their own personal discoveries of the science behind the display.

When visiting the Science Learning Center, you will find a great many exhibits including a Scanning Electron Microscope, a 350-gallon marine aquarium, a Musser Copernican Planetarium, Wimhurst generator, Vacuum Bell Jar, and Fluorescent Minerals Display, and the Etherwave Theramin. Additional hands-on exploration exhibits include Fossils, Minerals, Butterflies, and Soap Bubbles. Visits to the SLC can be designed to highlight the grade-appropriate science curriculum.
