The Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (RISE) is a program sponsored by a grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Its goal is to increase the interest, skills, and competitiveness of students in pursuit of biomedical research careers. Two distinct programs exist to meet the unique academic needs and professional demands of the biomedical research field: The RISE Starters Program and RISE Fellows Program. Visit our Facebook page @ http://www.facebook.com/groups/BEACH.RISE/ or send us a message: BEACH.RISE@groups.facebook.com to join the Facebook group page.
Appllications are no longer being accepted for the 13-14 RISE FELLOWS
The application deadline was April 8, 2013
RISE Starters are first-time freshmen and sophomores who are interested in the biomedical research field. To become a RISE Starter and be a part of the RISE Learning Community, contact Paul Buonora, Ph.D. at firstname.lastname@example.org or Michael Tran at email@example.com. Participants receive extensive mentoring and academic support as well as specially designed courses to prepare them for success in their majors and to train them to be scientists. As juniors and seniors, students may apply to be RISE Fellows.
RISE Fellows are juniors and seniors who receive financial support to carry out undergraduate research with a CSULB faculty member, and participate in academic and professional development opportunities in order to prepare them for graduate school and biomedical research careers.
