Mandatory Advising for First-semester Transfer Students
We hope you are settling into the campus environment at “the Beach.” A quick reminder that you need to receive Mandatory Transfer Advising during this first semester at CSULB.
SUGGESTION: You are strongly encouraged to contact the University Center for Undergraduate Advising (in the Horn Center) to understand the status of your General Education requirements. Be sure that you have received credit for all courses completed earlier and pay close attention to the GE categories fulfilled.
ADVISING HOLD: An advising hold has been placed on your account. Check MyCSULB for other holds and your enrollment appointment date. You will need to meet with advisors before the hold can be removed so that you can register for spring classes. Here’s how:
Step 1: Transfer Advising Form [.pdf]
Print out the Transfer Advising Form, and complete the list of your currently enrolled courses and a proposed spring course schedule prior to seeing your undergraduate advisor.
Step 2: Meet With Your Major Advisor [.pdf]
- Visit your undergraduate major advisor during his/her DROP-IN hours [.pdf] to receive advising for spring semester, and to ask any questions you may have.
- IMPORTANT! Bring the completed Transfer Advising Form.
- Your major advisor approves and signs your Transfer Advising Form.
Step 3: Remove Your Hold/SAS Center
- Keep a copy of your proposed spring courses.
- Turn in your signed Transfer Advising Form to the Jensen SAS Center (FO5-109) to release your Advising Hold. Allow 3 working days to have your Advising Hold released.
For more information, contact the SAS Center.
*If you are planning to change your major, we still recommend you talk to your current major advisor, since your hold is with the College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics.
