Welcome Parents! It is with enthusiasm that we welcome
you to the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at CSULB.
Your students have demonstrated academic prowess in order to
arrive at this threshold. They are about to embark on a wonderful
adventure, one that will shape their world view and their future. We
want to be partners with you, our freshman parents, as we strive
together to support your students during their first college year.
The freshman year in college is a year filled with new experiences,
new challenges and new successes. On this site we provide you
with some links to resources available within the College, on the
CSULB campus at-large, and on the Internet. We hope you will take
time to look over these resources as the year progresses and direct
your students here if you think any of these resources may be of
assistance to therm.
In addition, we will use this site to keep you updated on events within the College and University, events
that may be of interest you and your family. Please encourage your students -
our newest freshman - to
engage in the life of the college. We know from many years of data that engaged students are successful
students.

Certainly, we need our freshmen to attend class and study hard, but we also encourage and support them to
join a science or math-related club, attend speaker events, drop by the Student Access to Science (SAS)
Center for advising or tutoring, sign up for science field trips and participate in career-related seminars.
These activities will support them in experiencing college to the fullest and offer them a rich, sound
foundation on which to build a healthy career in the sciences or mathematics.
